Article 8: Rules of Play
A. Mulligans
There is one mulligan allowed per each nine holes of play. Mulligans can only be used on the tee. Once designated, it must be played regardless of the lie. If a player completes nine holes of play without using the mulligan, no stroke is subtracted from his total score. Mulligans will not be allowed during Scrambles and Best Ball games.
B. Provisional Ball
If the player is unsure where his ball landed, he may hit a provisional ball from the same spot as the original ball. If the original ball is located, in bounds, and playable, the provisional ball may be picked up and play resumed without penalty. However, a two-stroke penalty is added to the score if the original ball is lost or out of bounds and the provisional ball is put in play.
C. Winter Rules
The winter rules established by the PML Golf Association, concerning the ball lie, will be in effect all year for our club. This rule allows the player to move the ball, the length of the scorecard, to improve the lie. If the ball is in the rough, it must remain in the rough. The ball cannot be moved closer to the cup and does not apply to balls on the green.
D.
In order to improve speed of play, some members may elect to play from the forward tees. The decision on tee selection will be left up to the individual member.
E. Cancellations
All members scheduled for play are to notify the PML Pro Shop by 10:00 AM the day before, if unavailable for play. This will allow a confusion free operation at tee times.
F. Play
Nine holes of golf should be completed in less than two and a half hours. Please keep this in mind and stay up with the group in front of you.
G. Scoring
Accurate scoring is necessary in establishing individual handicaps. Be precise in counting whiffs, strokes and penalties. All strokes must be noted on the official card. One official card must be kept for each foursome. All scores must be posted at the completion of each hole. No exceptions!
H. Lost Ball
If a ball cannot be located within five minutes, it shall be considered lost. Another ball must be dropped as near as possible to the assumed lost ball area and continue play with a one stroke penalty. No penalty strokes if the ball is lost on the fairway (due to leaves, excess/deep grass, mud, etc.), providing one or more members of the group state that it was lost on the fairway.
I. Putts
All holes are to be putted out, no gimmees. When counting putts for the prize pool, count only the strokes used when the ball is on the green.
J. Ready Golf
In an effort to speed play, ready golf is to be played at all times.
K. Bunkers
In a effort to speed play, if a member has difficulty with bunker shots, and finds his ball in such, he may treat his ball as if in an unplayable lie and remove his ball placing it at a point behind the bunker, where it entered, no closer to the hole. When taking this action, he takes a one-stroke penalty. If his subsequent shot again enters the bunker, the same action may be taken until he is on the green. One penalty stroke shall be counted for each drop, along with all strokes.
Article 9: Tournaments
The club will hold two tournaments annually: a nine hole challenge with the PML Ladies’ Nine Hole Golf Club in early summer and a two-day men’s event in the fall. Rules and prize money allocation will be determined prior to the start of each event and all participants will receive a copy of them. A luncheon will be held following the two-day event, for all participants and their guests. Winners will be announced and prize money distributed at the luncheon.
Article 10: Maximum Strokes
The maximum number of strokes allowed on each hole is determined by individual handicaps.
Handicap Max. Strokes
5-9 7

19-29 9
The total stroke count shall be used when player is in the process of establishing the original handicap. Please note, maximum stokes are only used in determining handicap, all strokes used must be posted on the official card. When cards are turned in, maximums will be calculated prior to posting for handicaps.
